Very rarely do I say to myself, “I need a loud, distracting, background pattern for this project”. That does happen, but most of the time I’m looking for something subtle to multiply into a solid color layer in Photoshop.  Subtlepatterns.com is curated by interaction designer & concept developer, Atle Mo, with the aim of offering a “high quality resource for anyone in need of tileable textured patterns, free to use.” It’s full of really great stuff, and it’s free, because Atle is that kind of guy.
