SAMR Model & an Open Letter

Dr. Ruben Puentedura is the man behind the SAMR model, a popular framework for integrating technology into teaching. Puentedura claims to have developed the SAMR model after a decade of research and considerable effort trying to track down data so he could quantify his model.

Jonas Linderoth is an associate professor at the department of Education, Communication and Learning at the University of Gothenburg. After hearing about the SAMR model from his students, Linderoth went looking for Puentedura’s research. When he found no published or peer-reviewed research backing up Puentedura’s claims, Linderoth voiced his concerns in an open letter.

I could not find a single publication about the SAMR-model and not a single peer-reviewed article (or any other popular-scientific publication either) written by you. Instead all searches lead to slides, podcasts and videos.

You can read Linderoth’s letter (in English) in its entirety on his (very Swedish) blog Spelvetenskapliga betraktelser: Open letter to Dr. Ruben Puentedura

NOTE: Linderoth has made his blog private, but you can still read the cached version at web.archive.org
